​ And that will change over time - even after the PMO is set up.

How The Demand For Your PMO Increases.
\n
So you should constantly look for ways to add even more value to your organization.
\n
Word spreads around within any organization fairly quickly, so if things are going well, there’s a strong chance that others will come straight to you asking for more.
\n
For instance, if you’ve set up a PMO specifically for your HR department, and the PMO is meeting the department’s growing expectations, the IT department may want a PMO, too.
\n
With this, you’re expanding your offerings to others within your organization.
\n
But you should also be consciously looking for opportunities to expand your portfolio of services.
\n
As a chief facilitator, you’re at a vantage point.
\n
You have oversight on all aspects of your organization.
\n
Use that advantage to plan ahead, and work with your leadership to increase the scope and influence of the PMO.
\n
Examples Of Ways To Evolve Your PMO.
\n
Here are some examples of services you could consider as you evolve your PMO to its next iteration (let's call it PMO 2.0? :)).
\n
Example 1:

One of the obvious ones is to elevate the level of project portfolio management within your organization.
\n
Ensuring that the right projects are happening at the right time in alignment with your organization’s strategies is one of the most powerful ways to make a mark.
\n
Many companies start with rudimentary models to get into the habit of prioritizing projects. Perhaps these models can be improved.
\n
Example 2:
\n
Or perhaps you can look at meeting more frequently to make project prioritization a more continuous process instead of the once-a-year exercise that it might currently be.
\n
Example 3:
\n
Another service to improve on is keeping track of the return on investment, or ROI of the projects once they’re complete.
\n
Many organizations are very eager about evaluating project ROIs at the time of prioritization.
\n
But very few companies invest the time and effort in following it up with measuring the project’s actual benefits.

Your PMO can easily step in here.

Was the project expected to save the company some money, for instance?
\n
How much?
\n
The PMO can assess this by checking in with relevant stakeholders, determining what the company might have spent had the project not been implemented, and seeing what the company is spending today.

Your PMO can also help your organization by providing holistic training and coaching, not just for project management-related skills, but for all skills required by the personnel of departments like finance and HR that it’s accountable for.

And finally, the last service could be conducting market evaluation.
\n
Your PMO just doesn’t have to wait for others to submit project ideas for your consideration, it can study the market and propose project ideas on its own that it thinks can benefit the organization.

Fostering A Growth-Centric Environment.

As your PMO grows its services, so will your immediate team to help you on your mission.
\n
Get people on board who get excited by the prospects of your PMO becoming world-class.
\n
Invest in them:

Provide funding for professional certifications or courses
\n
Support their participation in industry conferences or networking events
\n
Offer resources for skill development, like workshops or seminars
\n
\n
Make them feel special:
\n
\n
Recognize their achievements publicly during team meetings.
\n
Celebrate their work anniversaries or milestones with personalized messages
\n
Arrange one-on-one check-ins to show genuine interest in their well-being
\n
\n
Give them the mentoring they need to grow:

Pair them with senior leaders for regular career guidance sessions
\n
Share relevant experiences and lessons from your own career journey
